Disability Employment Services (DES) is a program funded by the Australian government to support people with a disability, injury, illness, or mental health condition. These services are designed to help individuals prepare for, find, and maintain meaningful employment. Providers such as Breakthru are contracted by the Australian Government Department of Social Services to support communities in cities such as Sydney.
There are several criteria you must meet to be eligible for DES services. Services Australia (previously known as Centrelink) will be able to give you a referral if you qualify, or you will be able to apply directly to the Breakthru team. Depending on your specific needs, we may be able to find a suitable employer who will be able to provide your required modifications. During your initial consultations, we will carefully discuss any extra support you may need in the workplace.
You never need to disclose anything you aren’t comfortable sharing. What you decide to disclose is entirely up to you, as you are not required to share anything with employers or colleagues. If you wish to disclose personal information, our team will be able to help you communicate this comfortably and effectively.
