Important changes to Breakthru services

Royal Rehab Group has made the difficult decision to cease the provision of its Support Coordination services delivered through Breakthru and Spinal Cord Injuries Australia (SCIA).

This decision follows careful consideration of the ongoing financial pressures impacting these services. In particular, rising delivery costs combined with the lack of NDIS indexation over several years have significantly reduced their financial viability.

Despite these challenges, Breakthru and SCIA have continued to deliver Support Coordination in recognition of its importance to participants, maintaining services well beyond the point at which many other providers have exited the market. Regrettably, it is no longer financially sustainable for our organisation to continue providing these services.

This change forms part of ensuring Royal Rehab Group remains a strong and sustainable organisation, able to continue delivering high-quality disability, rehabilitation and healthcare services to communities across Australia.

Royal Rehab Group Chief Executive Officer, Matthew Mackay, said the organisation’s focus remains on supporting impacted clients and staff through the transition.

“We understand this will be difficult news for the people impacted, and we do not make decisions like this lightly,” Mr Mackay said.

“Our priority is to support our clients through this change with care and continuity, working closely with each person to connect them with appropriate alternative services,” he said.

The changes will also affect a number of employees. Royal Rehab Group has undertaken a consultation process with impacted team members and is committed to supporting them with care and respect throughout this transition.

“We recognise the contribution of our people and are committed to supporting them through this process,” Mr Mackay said.
